“I would like to commend Silverlake Auto on a job well done. We took our 2003 Ford Explorer to the Ford dealer in Coeur d’Alene, where they quickly diagnosed a rear end “hushing” type of noise as needing a new gear kit and bearings – to the tune of $1400. Since the vehicle only has 55,000 easy miles on it, this didn’t quite sound right (but you never know). Because I’ve been pleased with Silver Lake Auto in the past, we thought we’d run it by them, and at least get a competitive bid. After some thoughtful investigation – complete with monitoring noises with a headset, and taking things apart, they found the emergency brake pads were falling apart, and could find no other evidence of problems. I was able to talk with the mechanic at length about how he’d gone about things, and why he thought what he thought. I liked that. He said he’s about 98% sure that the problem Ford described does not exist. Having worked on a lot of cars myself over the years, I appreciated his work and his reasoning. 98% is pretty darn good for some of these automotive mysteries! So far we’ve just ended up with a $400 bill for diagnostics and new brake pads, are very satisfied with Silver Lake Auto service, and are of course hoping that this is the end of it.”

After asking asking around for a good auto repair shop in Coeur D Alene i was recommended by a many people to come to SilverLake Tire and Auto. I arrived at their convenient location next to the SilverLake Mall in Coeur D Alene to be greeted by some friendly auto mechanics who where happy to answer any questions i had. After explaining what i thought was wrong with my car they had it fixed in no time a long with some new tires and i was set to go. There where no gimmicks at this auto repair shop and their employees where very straight forward and to the point. On the second day of our annual vacation to the Oregon coast from our home in Alberta, Canada, the transmisson in our 32 foot class A motorhome stopped shifting. I pulled off the highway at Silver Lake Mall in Couer D’Alene, and saw Silver Lake Auto across the street. I met Will Sando, who asked me to bring it around to the rear of his shop, and his staff promptly started to diagnose the problem. When it was determined that the transmission had overheated and burnt the fluid, it became clear that the problem was serious. Will provided me with a quote to remove and replace the transmission with a rebuilt, and I accepted his quote. The transmission was removed and sent to Spokane for rebuilding, and Will allowed us to stay in our RV while waiting for the transmission to come back the next day. When all the work was completed, and the road test done, the invoice was right in line with his quote. The rest of our vacation was trouble free, and the transmission performed perfectly.
